Dear DA friends,

I'm not leaving because I don't like it here. I love the people here and the comments and the art. I wasn't deprived of anything in my daily experience of DA. However, I lack the time and patience to check this site everyday. I haven't cleaned out my inbox for about two- three months. I also think I outgrew it.

However, there's so much drama here and I don't have the strength to keep up with it all. I'm not complaining about anyone in particular. But I just got sick of hearing about how everyone's life is so much more worse because their hamster died or because they don't get enough comments and/or favorites.

So goodbye for now friends. I'll check from time to time and maybe return someday. But right now, I have no desire to be on DA.

Hey, it's that time again...well, not really, lol. I just thought it would be fun to offer a sub again. But this contest is a little harder.

First of all, you have to really impress me with your skill. No half assed contest entries. I would like a fully colored background and a fully colored character.

Second, this is a contest I'd like to be taken seriously. No gag pictures, sorry.

Anyway, onto the contest content:

Contest 1: Create an avatar. Not for DA, but for MSN. So, 100X100. It has to have one of these themes:
a. Sahara and Me (me, human)
b. Sahara and Twilight (An Edward doll, a book, an apple, be creative^^)
c. Safa with glowing gold eyes. (Safa is my evil character)

Contest 2: Create a poem. Serious poem, nothing stupid.

a. Poem about wolves. (A positive one)
b. Poem about werewolves
c. Poem about life, love or pain
d. Micellanious poem (Anything applies)

Contest 3: Draw your character with one of my minor characters.

Draw your character either with Safa, Scorpio or Libra.

Now for prizes:

First runner up: (Three winners: one from each category) Any ANIMAL character of yours in a fully digital painting.
Second Runner Up: (Three winners: One from each category) A drawn picture of your characters, fully colored with background.

I count myself as a 'old school' Twilighter. I was before the craze, before the movie and before everyone started writing songs for Twilight. I picked up the book on a rainy day at Borders, took it home and was captured. I eagarly awaited the next books, but not in that crazy 'OMG DROOL' rabid way. I waited patiently. I was a calm Twilighter and one who seemed to be 'middle aged'. I wasn't a teenager by the time the craze went full steam ahead. I wasn't a mom either. No, I was a college student. I still am for that matter and I still love Twilight.

I will admit the movie was a pleasent surprise and I still wait for that as we speak. I didn't care about casting. I didn't even know who Rob Pattinson (or whatever) was. I was blissfully naive to what would happen next. Before I knew it, Twilight  was an overnight sucess story. My best friend, Alexa, is a Twilight fan as well. She is a late teenager and despite that, still seems to have more composure than I do. I was instantly happy that Twilight was being recognized. She was doubtful. She had been a Harry Potter fan and while she likes the books and movies, she no longer associates herself with the fandom. She was worried Twilight would turn into just that. An overdone fandom. I shrugged and wanted to keep riding the Twilight wave. Soon, it became apparent she was right. Twilight was no longer something I enjoyed hearing about. It got OLD hearing about the articles written about it. It was like I was in this great library of books, but no longer had a taste for reading.

Worst yet were the songs. I never really put much weight into music. While I loved the groups Alexa would discover and reveal to me, I never had the same passion she did. It was only last night that I realized what music means to me. She mentioned a song called 'Decode' by Paramore that was the new high of the Teens of Twilight. I had listened to it, liked it and forgot it for a while, but she brought it to my attention once more. It was supposed to be a song about Twilight's Bella and Edward. I lsitened to it, studied the lyrics and found NO REAL RESEMBLENCE. Sure, maybe a few lyrics here and there, but it certainly wasn't ABOUT Twilight like it claimed to be. I began to realize that Twilight was no longer about the books. It was about the idea. No one was really true to Twilight's books. They only wanted the movie. Twilight was now represented by the tyraid of 13 year olds that wanted to screw Rob P and were orgasmically happy that he was currently single.

I will love Twilight for the rest of my life. Or maybe I won't. Maybe I will find something better. Who knows? I just know that my fandom days are over after the movie. I will no longer be able to scream about it without feeling like some dimwitted fangirl. I hope the movie does the book justice. Or maybe it will finally put an end to the 'book is always better than the movie' rule. Either way, you'll be hearing from me again.
